The Kikay In Me

What’s Kikay in Me? That was the first question I asked to myself before writing this. I am not a fashionista and I don’t usually follow trends. Am I really a kikay? I have a Kikay kit, maybe I’m a kikay? Am I? Okay, I don’t want to confuse myself now. Seriously, I don’t know much about fashion and I don’t care what’s in and what’s out in there. All I know is I love taking care of myself.
The most expensive part of me is my hair. Sometimes, I don’t care how much I spend for a hair treatment just to make it healthy and  beautiful. For me, hair does matter. If I’m having a good hair day, I feel like I can face anyone even without make-up. Believe me, beautiful hair can boost up your confidence too aside from heels. Few close girl friends know about this, I don’t go out from home without blowing my hair dry. I use electric fan instead of hair dryer because it’s more safer for the hair.
I’m just so fortunate that I was able to attend seminars with regards to health and beauty using natural products few years ago which until now I’m still practicing what I have learned. Aside from hair, I also love skin cares most especially facial but going to facial centers on a regular basis is quite expensive and so I’m doing it at home. Sometimes if I have enough time I’m extending my home-made facial services to my family and friends for free. Lucky guys!
Beauty tips to those who are not aware yet, when you have pimples don’t use facial scrubs because it will trigger the pimples more. To avoid big pores never use facial scrubs daily, use it aleast twice a week only. Best advise to wash your face with cold instead of hot water to tighten the skin. At night never ever sleep without cleaning your face and as much as possible use toner and moisturizer after washing your face and sleep before 12midnight because that’s the time our cells rejuvenate. If you want to have a fresher looks sleep as much as you can because nothing beats a good sleep.
One thing I really love living alone is that I own my bathroom, no one will knock the door and will ask me if I’m already done because usually I’m taking 45 minutes (when I’m in a hurry) to 2 hours (on my free days). If you’ll ask me what I am doing inside, well, I have lots of shower rituals and one of those is body scrub. That’s one of the major things that are consuming my time while taking a shower but it’s always nice to feel fresh and clean after it. I could say it’s a must try!J
Aside from facial I also love doing my nails at home. I’m not an expert on this that’s why this is only applicable when I have enough patience.
In the morning aside from prayer, I also start my day with feel good music. I sing and dance as my exercise.  I also do meditation once in a while but most of the time during weekends.  I mentioned those because music and prayers are the medicines and the vitamins to my soul. Sometimes, the secret of beauty doesn’t always come from the beauty products that we’re buying. Sometimes you don’t need to spend much money for it, all you have to have is a happy soul and beauty from within will just simply show. What’s inside will reflect outside. No make-up can cover a sad face that’s why you must also have to take care of your inner self. Avoid stress, enjoy and balance your life as much as possible.
In a busy and stressful world like ours, a woman who knows how to handle her responsibilities and yet still have time to take care of herself is always admirable. It’s always fun to be a girl!!

Soulful Life

Most of the time when we are alone, we feel lonely, empty and weak. There are times we want to reach out to our friends but not all of the time they are there to help us out.  In cases like these, if there’s no one there for you then be there for yourself. Go out and find ways how to help yourself. Sometimes reading books can help us too and speaking of it, I want to share something from “The Secret to a Soulful Life, How to Create Peace and Happiness In Your Life Every Day”edited by Patricia Wayant. Hopefully this can help.

The Secret to a Soulful Life.
To live a soulful life is to feel a profound connection to everyone and everything that touched your life. It is to go about your day with greater awareness of the world around you and to live with love and gratitude in your heart. To live a soulful life is to tap into the deepest, richest place inside you to find your true self, to realize your life purpose, and to experience life in the most positive ways.
People who live soulful lives embrace every moment they are given. They cherish people, places, and things that fill their lives with so much warmth and joy. They take time when others around them are rushing and feel intensely when it would be easier not to feel at all. They know things go wrong, mistakes get made, and bad stuff happens, but they try to focus on the beauty and goodness in the world. They recognize that each new day is a gift that will never come again.
There is no single definition of soulful living and the secrets to finding it can really only be found inside yourself.
The Secrets to a Soulful Life:
  • Make the most of each day
  • Take time for the people who matter most
  • Know yourself
  • Show kindness
  • Spend time in nature
  • Let yourself relax
  • Look for reasons to smile
  • Be alone sometimes
  • Fill your mind with positive thoughts
  • Love and honor yourself
Soulful living is an attitude, a choice, and a way of thinking. It is finding calm and quite in a hectic, noisy world. It is being grateful for what you have and bringing awareness to the parts of your life that mean the most but sometimes receive the least attention. It is experiencing life on a deeper, more meaningful level that focuses on a genuine connection to the earth, to the people who share your life, and to yourself.

Reminder: Man Pursues Woman

Life has no pattern but hopefully every girl, lady, woman with or without boyfriend, married or not will have the chance to read THE RULES book written by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider.  I am not telling that you should believe all of the words written in this book but at least you will get some ideas how to handle guys, making relationships work (either love or friendship) and at the same time how to protect your heart from them while you are taking care of yourself and be the best woman as you can be.
I first read this when I was in College although I don’t follow them perfectly but for me it works most of the time.
THE RULES
  1. BE A CREATURE UNLIKE ANY OTHER- Being a creature unlike any other is really an attitude, a sense of confidence and radiance that permeates your being from head to toe. It’s the way you smile (you light up the room), pause between sentences (you don’t babble on out of nervousness), listen (attentively), look (demurely, never stare), breathe (slowly), stand (straight) and walk (briskly, with your shoulders back). When a relationship doesn’t work out, you brush away a tear so that it doesn’t smudge your makeup and you move on!.
  2. SHOW UP TO PARTIES, DANCES AND SOCIAL EVENTS EVEN IF YOU DO NOT FEEL LIKE IT- Realize that you may not meet Mr. Right naturally and that you therefore must take social action immediately even if you don’t want to. Get a manicure and go out on another date or to that singles dance—do something to increase your chances of meeting men.
  3. IT’S A FANTASY RELATIONSHIP UNLESS A MAN ASKS YOU OUT-Don’t waste time on a fantasy relationship. You may have a good rapport with your doctor, lawyer or accountant, and you may find yourself wondering if he is interested in you romantically. How can you know for sure? If he’s never asked you out, then He’s Just Not That Into You!
  4. IN AN OFFICE ROMANCE, DO NOT EMAIL HIM BACK EVERY TIME HE EMAILS YOU UNLESS IT IS BUSINESS RELATED- On all non-business e-mails, responding once for every four of his e-mails is a good rule of thumb. Remember, you never know who has access to your e-mail, so keep all romance off the screen and save it for Saturday nights.
  5. IF YOU ARE IN A LONG-DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP, HE MUST VISIT YOU AT LEAST THREE TIMES BEFORE YOU VISIT HIM-Remember, the first three visits are really nothing more than three dates… and on the first three dates we don’t have sex with a man or have him stay at our place overnight.
  6. WHEN CONSIDERING WHETHER TO USE PERSONAL ADS OR OTHER DATING SERVICES, YOU SHOULD PLACE THE AD AND LET MEN RESPOND TO YOU- It goes back to the basic premise of The Rules: Man pursues woman. When writing your ad, remember that every man has a type, a voice or a look he likes. There has to be spark for him that attracts him to you, something that makes him find you unexplainably special.
  7. IF HE DOES NOT CALL YOU, HE IS NOT THAT INTERESTED. PERIOD.- We know this is hard to accept, but it’s not that he hasn’t called because he’s busy, or because you didn’t smile or talk enough (or did too much). It’s not that he lost your phone number. The bottom line is, if he hasn’t called, he’s not that interested.
  8. CLOSE THE DEAL-RULES WOMEN DO NOT DATE MEN FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS- If you followed The Rules, your man probably loves you and wants to marry you. Your problem is not if he marries you, but when! If it’s been more than a year, see less of him and think about dating others. You’ve already spent more than a year waiting for him to propose; do you have another year to wait?
  9. BUYER BEWARE—OBSERVE HIS BEHAVIOR SO YOU DO NOT END UP WITH MR. WRONG—Love may be blind, but Rules girls are not stupid! How does he act in the relationship? Is he cheap on dates? Is he critical to you? Remember, The Rules are not about marrying the first man you are attracted to who calls you by Wednesday for Saturday night and buys you flowers. It’s about marrying your own personal Mr. Right—a man whom you love and whose character you admire and can live with.
  10. KEEP DOING THE RULES EVEN WHEN THINGS ARE SLOW-Take care of yourself, take a bubble bath and build up your soul with positive slogans like “I am a beautiful woman. I am enough.”
Go out, try practicing The Rules.
Who knows Mr. Right is just around the corner.
